Torrontes RIOJANO

Torrontes is an aromatic white wine that originated in Argentina. Torrontes is an ideal wine to match with Asian and Indian cuisine due to its sweet floral aromas of rose petals and flavors of white peach and lemon zest. The wine smells sweet, but is usually made in a dry style and the best Torrontés wines come from the high elevation vineyards in Salta, Argentina.

It doesn't represent just a single grape variety, however – several varieties bear the name Torrontes. The most significant of these are Torrontes Sanjuanino, Torrontes Mendocino and Torrontes Riojano. The latter of the three is the most widely planted, and typically produces the better-quality wines. Torrontes wines range in style from light and fresh to heady and intensely perfumed, often expressing spicy, soapy characters and aromas of white flowers.

MALbec

Known for its plump, dark fruit flavors and smoky finish, Malbec wine offers a great alternative to higher priced Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.

Malbec is a black-skinned grape variety native to southwestern France (specifically the area around Cahors), but now better known as the iconic wine grape of Argentina. Through its success in the vineyards of Mendoza, in a few short decades Malbec has shot from relative obscurity to international fame, simultaneously bringing newfound attention and respect to Argentina as a wine-producing nation.

Malbec’s strong presence means it is meat dishes best friend; it pairs well with lamb, duck, veal, prime rib, flank steak, as well as spaghetti and meatballs, blue-cheese burgers, and charcuterie.

Cab Franc

cabernet franc

Cabernet Franc is medium-bodied red wine whose origins likely lie in the Basque country of France. The wine is loved for its savory, bell pepper-like flavors, medium-high acidity and mouthwatering taste. It is an ideal food pairing wine. Single-varietal Cabernet Franc wines, enjoy some popularity but the variety is more frequently found as blending grape in the famous Bordeaux Blend.

Cabernet Franc is lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon, making a bright pale red wine that contributes finesse and lends a peppery perfume to blends with more robust grapes. Depending on the growing region and style of wine, additional aromas can include tobacco, raspberry, bell pepper, cassis, and violets.

Cabernet Franc’s acidity makes it pair well with tomato based dishes like Bolognese, as well as strong earthy herbs like sage and rosemary, and legume dishes like lentils.
